Health is a state of well-being, both inside and outside the body. This condition includes the mental, physical, and social areas in a person’s existence. However, health is not defined as a lack of manifest infirmity because it can be viewed as a condition with balanced physical, mental and social aspects of the individual.
The indicator of physical health is stable bodily processes. Physical fitness means that the body is agile, active and alert. This state is achieved through regular and proper exercise, a diet with plenty of natural food and sufficient rest. Regular exercise is good for blood circulation. Proper diet involves taking the right vitamins and supplying nutrients needed. Rest means amount of sleep and relaxation so that cells can regenerate and renew themselves. On the whole, physical health means that the body is normal and no long-term discomforts are present.
Social and Mental Health
Why is mental health crucial to a person? It determines how a person can successfully maneuver in relationships, organizations and community. Mental health is a must because a person has to psychologically function well even if the external factors are not so positive. Consequently, this area may have no definite demarcations because mental health is usually evaluated differently, depending on one’s culture or background.
An indication of a mentally healthy person can be seen in having satisfying interactions with others. The ability to handle one’s self in positive manner can help in getting through relationship obstacles. Thus in building a healthy confidence, a person must have skills for coping with certain unfavorable situations. However, being mentally healthy cannot be immediately deduced by not having visible signs of erratic behavior because sometimes, the person can take excellent cautiousness in his actions. It is important to understand the nature of the human psyche, a deeper realm that cannot be fathomed with ordinary observation.
Social soundness is readily apparent when a person knows how to get around social circles and make friends easily. A person who doesn’t like interacting with others, is called an anti-social. Hence, social well-being is determined by how an individual connects with people, and this is crucial to a healthy individualism. If this is absent, then a person can live in a vacuum, being unfit for social interactions and be less effective in dealing with life problems as a whole.
All in all, being healthy does not only constitute measuring the physical position of the person but other aspects as well, such as the social and mental states.
